The lush gardens at the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya were created by the architect Fontseré, who also designed the Parc de la Ciutadella in Barcelona. They date back to the 19th century and were previously restored by Nicolau Rubió i Tudurí. Designed in a modernist English style, this green space stretches out for 25,000 m2 and is made up of various exotic plants and trees imported from different parts of the world. It is protected as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest in Barcelona.
The gardens were originally owned by the old Masía Torre Melina, a medieval manor house that may date back as far as the 12th century. They are surrounded by an outdoor pool and a lake and still use the old water drainage system, which is made from ceramic pieces.
